SK Day 2026

Date: Friday, Oct 16, 2026

Sonya Kovalevsky Day on October 16. The program will consist of hands-on activities, presentations, and problem-solving for Richmond area middle-school girls. Participants will spend the day on the VCU campus interacting with VCU students, faculty, and invited guests to explore the connection between mathematics, science, and our world.

MAAGC at VCU 2026

Dates: Friday, Oct 23, 2026 – Sunday, Oct 25, 2026

The 2026 edition of the Mid-Atlantic Algebra, Geometry, and Combinatorics (MAAGC) Workshop will take place from Friday to Sunday, October 23-25, 2026, at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, VA. The MAAGC Workshop aims to bring together senior researchers and junior mathematicians from the region to exchange ideas and forge collaborations in algebra, geometry, and combinatorics. The conference is funded by National Science Foundation grant DMS-2408985.

American Mathematics Competition 10 and 12

Date: Friday, Nov 13, 2026

We are pleased to announce that VCU will host the AMC 10 and 12 (American Mathematics Competition) on campus at 6pm on Friday, November 13, 2025. These are individual competitions consisting of a 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examination in high school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 10 is targeted for students in 9th/10th grade, and the AMC 12 is targeted for students in 11th/12th grade.
